I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknowledge

the receipt of your letter No. 35882/13 of the 24th. ultimo
in regard to the definition of "Hong Kong Company" in the
revised draft of the China (Companies) Order in Council.
Sir E. Grey sees no objection to the alteration of the
definition as proposed by Mr. Secretary Harcourt and the
draft Order has been amended accordingly.
As the result of correspondence which has passed
between this Department and the China Association it has been
found desirable to introduce further amendments in Articles
me
10 and 13. A new subsection 3 has been added to Article 3,
formally providing that the Registrar of Companies at
Shanghai may take proceedings there to enforce compliance
with the Order.
